Horses/using knee guards in polo

hello Lyn. i havent seen professional riders irrespective of disciple apart from polo using knee guards. why do polo players use knee guards? why not jockeys, show jumpers, tent peggers?

Each discipline has it's unique equipment.  Polo is one sport where there's a lot of contact between the horses and riders.  Soccer has shin guards, football, as played in this country, has a lot of specialize pads.  The other disciplines you mentioned don't have horses and riders crashing into each other at a gallop.  In a sport like jumping they simply wouldn't work because they would interfere with the rider's grip.
