Question
hello Lyn, is canter a good exercise for both the horse and the rider?

Answer
Rohit,

Yes, as long as it's not overdone.  A horse has to get conditioned to canter for long periods, don't start by expecting the horse to canter non-stop for a half hour or more.  We use cantering a great deal in distance horses but the horses have a lot of conditioning and Long Slow Distance (LSD) work in them before we expect them to canter 4,5,6 or more miles.
