About Solange Rian
Expertise
I specialize in breaking and training difficult horses. I can provide advice on correcting behavior issues - cribbing, rearing, spinning; along with tack recommendations. I can also suggest feed programs, hoof care and explain dental care requirements.

Experience
I have owned Horsehaven Stables since 2000 and will break 5 horses this year alone!! I believe in a humane, safe and intelligent method when breaking horses that is based on results and not time. I have gained a reputaion in the area for taking in dangerous horses that no one else wants and fixing them up. I keep them as personal riding horses for years and if I see improvement I will sell one eventually to the right owner and situtaion. I believe every horse deserves a chance to prove themselves. More often than not they prove it was the human's fault!!

Amanda Honey,

Please take Solange's good advice! The problem with this particular 'bad habit' is that it can badly injure or even kill you. I know two very experienced horsemen who suffered crushed pelvises from horses rearing over backward ...and one who died.

I currently have a three year old I trained this summer who has this problem. After going over +/-4 times, I got pretty good intercepting the behavior by turning her hard into a circle. She had not done it for over two months until on a trail ride she balked at crossing a creek. While I was focused on getting her to cross, she went over again and this time caught me underneath her. Luckily it was sandy and neither of us got hurt. Although I will lose money, I will be selling her as a brood mare only.

There's too many other wonderful horses out there to risk your future health or life on this one.

The Idaho Kid!
