Question THE STEMS OF OUR TOMATO PLANTS HAVE DEVELOPED BUMPS ALL OVER THEM, WHTA IS THIS? ALSO, THE LEAVES HAVE "TRAILS" ON THEM AS IF SOMETHING IS JUST EATING THE SURFACE OF THE LEAF, WHAT IS THIS? sRAYS HAVE NOT HELPED. cAN WE STILL EAT THE TOMATOES?
THANK YOU
Answer Diane,
I have seen the bumps on stems for years, I guess I did not give it much thought. The little buggers working inside or on the very top could be leaf miners.I am not sure what insecticide will control them, if they are not doing to much damage I probably would not get excited about them. If they appear to hurt you production, then go after them. My suggestion for insecticides would be go to one of the discount stores and read the label on some of the insecticides they have and select the least expensive one. Google "leaf miners" and see if this fits what you are seeing.
If you need more help I am more than willing to help, drop me a note at dale@softley.com and I will get back to you. Some times it may take a day or so for me to get back.
