Question QUESTION: I have a B.Sc.,Computer science (3 year course)degree. Also obtained my Post Graduate diploma in Hospital Administration from one of the reputed hospitals in the country(Christian Medical College,India) and currently working for the same as an administrative assistant (2 years experience). I am at present doing my MBA (HR) through distance education. I want to know the future prospects for hospital administrator in abroad (Gulf/US) after completing my MBA . Kindly advice how to go about it.
ANSWER: You may face some challenges finding a position in healthcare administration, particularly in a hospital in the US. Entry level positions are very competitive and typically go to graduates from US programs (www.aupha.org).
Your background may lend itself to consulting or some of the many other settings for healthcare delivery.
You will need to find whatever you can to start, anything that will help you network and learn more about opportunities and the various settings and roles that exist. Keep in mind that most healthcare administrative roles are NOT in hospital settings.
