Hotels - double occupancy

Expert: Terry MacDonald - 10/26/2001

Question
Does double occupancy mean that you pay per person for the room? I have a reservation for a hotel in JAX, FL and the rate is $59/night double occupancy. Will the bill be for $59 or for $118? I know this sounds stupid but I wasn't sure what it exactly meant. Thanks for any help!

Answer
Dear Leigh,
Usually if you are going to be charged for 2 it will say
$ 59/per person. To me $59/night double occupancy means 1 or 2 people.Watch for an extra charge for any more people in the room. Having said that I do not know what they do in JAX,FL. . E-mail the hotel or try for a toll free # to find out for sure.
Hope this helps.

Terry
