Expert: Darlene K. Kittle - 10/29/2009

Question
I have a old christmas cactus - it was my mom's - it always bloomed prolificaly (sp) but mom has gone on & i can;t seem to have the same success - its kinda droopy & not really shiny & green -
also what location can i buy atomic grow fertilizer?

thank you,

j.a.

Answer
J. A.,

You have over or under watered it. During the summer and before blooming you should give it lots of water but after blooming you should treat it like a cactus and give it minimal watering. At all times it should be in very bright light locations with lots of sun.

I think you may mean Miracle Grow Fertilizer, I have never heard of Atomic Grow Fertilizer. Miracle Grow Fertilizer can be bought at WalMart or most any garden center. I use the generic variety and it works just as good as the name brand. Feel free to write again if you have more questions. Good luck.
