Question
I just received two small peacock jasmine pots are approximately 2 1/2 inches each. How do I care for them. I live in upstate NY. I don't have much luck growing house plants but, would love to be successful with these. Please help me with them.             thank you.

Answer
Hello Sandy,

Firstly I would transplant your jasmines into slightly larger pots say 4inch pots.  Remember they are babies so need gentle care.  The compost should be kept moist at all times, you can mist the leaves with tepid water occasionally to keep the air fresh and humid, they like bright like but keep them out of the strong summer sun especially at midday.
Fertilise them once every two weeks during the spring and summer - choose a good brand either powder or liquid and follow the instructions.

You will have to train them round a wire hoop or some sort of plant support as they are vigorous growers!  And when they flower the perfume is divine!!

I do hope that this time round you are successful in growing these plants - maybe you have not had much luck in the past due to poor light or just lack of knowledge?

Write to me any time if you have any other plants about which you would like advice.

Diana
