Question
QUESTION: Hello Sir,I am doing MBA in Human Resources and i have done my graduation in B.Tech computer science. For which company should i look for the job?top 10 companies for the HR's.

ANSWER: Dear Arti
A lot will depend on what are your criteria for selecting an organization. also, it will depend on where you are pursuing your MBA from. Companies also have their own selection and choice making process and quite a few of them do look at a parameter like the type of institute one is from. At least for beginners.

Also, you need to be clear whether you are willing to be located anywhere in the country and in any kind of a role. The reason for saying this is that many good companies do give individuals exposure to different HR roles and that may mean being at the plant to begin with or at a regional office. So, you need to be clear whether you are prepared for that.

Lastly, choice of companies will also depend on what kind of a career you want to build for yourself. If you want to get into user organizations then there are organizations like ITC, HUL, Marico, Godrej, Colgate Palmolive, Monsanto who are known for good work in HR and will give you a good exposure. However, if you are keen on a career in consulting then you could look at organizations like Hewitt, Mercer, Right Places etc.

Do think about this and revert if you have further questions or want some other clarifications. I will be happy to respond. All the best.

QUESTION: Thanks sir for replying me.I have some queries sir-i am doing my MBA from GNA-IMT under punjab technical university. Will i get get the job under this university. If not what should i do to overcome this problem as this is my first year going on,i have an ample time to work on those areas which are required to get a good job.So on which skills should i work on?Please do reply sir.....

Answer
Dear Arti
I have no clue about how the placement has been from your institute in the past. If that has been good, then you need not get concerned. However, even in that case, it is important that you do a good job during your summer training.

So, if required, do write to as many companies as you can in order to get a good summer placement. Also, what is important is that you end up doing a project that is in an area of challenge to the organization you are doing your summer with. In that case, if you do a good job you will not only learn but also enhance your chances of being considered by that organization for final placement.

Hope this helps you decide. Do revert if you have further queries. All the best.
