Question QUESTION: My wife, she has done MBA in HR, having 6yrs of expr. With the small scale IT firms. Currently she is on maternity break since last yr. and wants to restart her prof. career. As there are less opportunities, she would like to know the other available career options for which she can look forward. Something which is not called as a regular HR job. Any suggestions please?
ANSWER: Dear prasanna
I quite understand your dilemma , my suggestion though is look for experience which will stand her and build up her profile , rather starting from scratch
My suggestion is
1. Recruitment with recruitment firms - many opportunities are there
2. If she has good communication skills - Looking for jobs in the education sector in student management, teaching or placement support - this would give her a job to use her skills and not move out from core HR
3. There are many BPO firms doing work in HR outsourcing maybe you can try there
Do not be disheartened and with focus she will definitely get a break. I do not know your financial position but doing a HR certification and short term programs definitely will help in the long run
with warm regards - nitin

QUESTION: I am with your thoughts but what i have seen is she is not getting calls itself for any kind of HR jobs, we have worked hard to rewrite her resume, flash her resume in diff. jobs site, i am not sure why she is not getting calls, may be her maternity break almost now 1 yr. also we are in search to do some kind of certification for her which will help her to get the job asap. if you are aware abt any pls suggest.
Answer Dear prasanna
My suggestion is please ask her to meet a couple of recruitment consultants and get their advise
As far as certifications go - My suggestions in India for certifications are
1) Recruitment -> Do the Certified Recruitment Analyst program which is a gloablly accredited program from Carlton advanced management Institute ( CAMI ) ( There are many agencies which run this program in India - Like Middle earth, Contactx in Mumbai , people strategists in Delhi , Vibrant Serve in Bangalore , AKS academy in Kolkatta. ) details of this program can be obtained from www.mecindia.in or by calling their main number in India which is 91-9948511234 or 040-23550696)
2) Learning and development - Do the 6 month diploma in Training from ISTD ( details are available on the site - www.istddiploma.org ). Alternatively or alongside do the Certified trainer and faciltator ( CTF ) and Certified Learning and Development Manager ( CLDM ) from Carlton Advanced Management institute( CAMI ) - ( the same contact details as above ). You can also do the TTT program from Dale Carnegie India ( see the
3) Compensation and performance management - Do the Certified Compensation and Benefit Manager (CCBM ) and CPCD ( Certified performance and Competency Developer - this is similar to the CLDM program so do either not both ) from CAMI ( same details as in Part 1 ), alternatively try the Certified Compensation professional from world at work ( www.worldatwork.org) or the certified performance technologist ( CPT ) program from ISPI ( International society for performance Improvement )
