Human Resources/Forced to do community event to receive health insurance discount

Question
Hello,
We have been participating in a wellness program to receive health insurance at a lower premium for several years now.  Employees who sign up for the program and complete the annual "requirements" pay much less per month than employees who don't.
In the beginning of the year we undergo a health screen that assesses our medical status and lifestyle status to identify potential health hazards, and are assigned a health category that determines how many coaching sessions, wellness presentations, and exercises we must perform that year. (Healthy = few, unhealthy = more).
Our employer also is mandating all employees participate in a Community event, be it a Fun Run/Walk, or volunteering for charity, regardless of what health category you fall in.

My question is pertaining to the legality of forcing us to perform an off-duty Community activity that may or may not have any bearing on our health, and charging us more for health insurance if we do not do it.

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
David:
Lets look at the situation from another perspective.  You are not being forced to do anything.  You are being incentivized to do something.  Attending wellness seminars etc and essentially being paid to do so is not being forced.  You have the choice play or pay.
Given the current healthcare benefits mess, employers and employees are being "forced" to many things that did not exist in the past.  Welcome to socialism.
Hope this helps
Jim
