Human Resources/Subcontractor Holiday Pay


A company is using independent contractors for a task that lasts for 3-4 months.  The work is performed at their location, and will occur over the period including the Thanksgiving holiday.  They are generously offering to pay the subcontractors for the Friday they will be closed since that prevents the subs from working.  I just want to be sure that doesn't break any rules about employee vs independent contractor status.

Tell the company thank you and ask them to write a separate check and put it to work production bonus instead of Holiday Pay. If they do this is will not be misconstrued. If they will not it will more than likely be okay unless someone complains about it to the Department of Labor. I don't think you should worry because no one will complain about getting too much money.
