Human Resources/transfers in non-unionized environment
Expert: Leo Lingham - 6/12/2013
Question I was transferred to another department in a warehouse environment. They are redistibuting people from my deparment into other department at work to even out teams. they have taken the 3 lowest seniority employee and have sent them to other teams or dpeartments. I have a reaccuring back issue (from work) that i incurred from an area in the building where they are trying to send me permanently. This new department requires a lot of manual lifting. The present department has machinery that assists me to do my work. There are other departments that have people with less seniority then I do tht are not being sent to this area. We are a canadian company that is non-unionized. I have 15 years on the job. Do I have any recourse?
BASED ON YOUR BRIEFING,
MY SUGGESTION IS
-get a specialist / your family doctor’s reports on your back problem.
-forward it to your boss/ HR department,
-with a covering letter from you
Requesting that you be retained in the current location—till such time
Your backs get better.
