Why human resources policies programmes are key to an organization success

I am not sure if this is homework or not, however, there are several reasons why Human Resources Policies are key to an organizations success.

Policies serve several important functions:

Communicate values and expectations for how things are done at your organization

Keep the organization in compliance with legislation and provide protection against employment claims

Document and implement best practices appropriate to the organization

Support consistent treatment of staff, fairness and transparency

Help management to make decisions that are consistent, uniform and predictable

Protect individuals and the organization from the pressures of expediency

you need a strategy for developing, communicating and enforcing a set of policies and practices that reflect your standards of acceptable behavior.

It's important that you clearly state consequences for violations of your behavioral standards so that employees know what to expect and have fair warning of those expectations. In addition, clear consequences help to ensure that you aren't limited in your options for dealing with improper behaviors.

I volunteer on the American Payroll Association hotline and have for the last 10 years or so. I answer many questions each week for other payroll and HR professionals, mostly on taxes, benefits and compensation issues. I have been the trustee for our 401K plan for Retirement benefits and our 125 Cafeteria Plan for Health Insurance benefits.

Runner up for Employee of the Year at my Company twice and Employee of the month 4 times.
