Question
QUESTION: Dear Umesh

Are there Provident fund and Pension schemes for political parties workers which are privately owned?.

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

ANSWER: Dear Prashant,

Hope you're doing good.

The word "privately owned" is confusing here. Can you elaborate more. Are you referring to workers of political parties such as BJP, Congress etc.

It actually depends on many facts such as if there exists a relationship of employee and employer, nature of work, type of industry, salaries/commissioned agents etc.

Please clarify the above.

QUESTION: Dear Umesh

Thanks.

You are correct. Political parties viz BJP,CONGRESS, NCP,SHIV SENA,MNS,AAM AADMI PARTY etc

I feel those party workers should get the
Above benefits both or at least one.

Thanks & Regards,

Answer
Dear Prashant,

Actually it depends on relationship between party and its workers. It's not that they are not covered at all.

The party workers are majorly sourced from some local agencies for mass gathering etc. These agencies are usually covered under EPF and ESIC but it's tough to say whether they comply or not.
