Question
I am moving to Wyoming in the spring and I am trying to get a good idea of what I am in for hunting wise.  Mainly what will I be looking for in camo and you can even take it down to the brand if you want.  I have been looking at the Sitka gear but I dont know what temps Im going to run into and frankly what gear is going to work for those temps.  I have a pretty good idea on a rifle/scope combo so im not as worried about that... it will be a 7mm mag.  Im mainly looking for Whitetail/Mule deer, and maybe Elk...  Ive never hunted big game, only whitetail in Michigan where I grew up.  Any recommendations/advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Answer
If you are rifle hunting for elk, deer, you wear orange.  People take shots from pretty far away, and you don't want to be mistaken for a target.  If you are bow hunting, that's a different deal. On the plains there is a sage brush camo that's pretty good.  In the mountains either treebark or pine needle would work.  In winter, I wear white.  Do not wear white during rifle season though.  A 7mm mag is a bit light for elk.  Personally, I wouldn't worry about this until next year anyway.  You'll have a better idea once you move there.  I actually don't wear camo at all when rifle hunting--people get shot out here wearing camo during rifle season. It is important for bow hunting.  I do a lot of duck hunting (and sometimes turkey) and have no heavy camo clothing. I simply buy something like a t-shirt or shell in XXL size, and put it over my warm clothing.  Works like a charm.  I have cattail pattern, green grass pattern, and white.  Whatever you do, never ever wear white during rifle deer or antelope season.  Nothing white at all.  Really, for elk/deer season we just don't worry about camo at all out here if using a rifle.  It's not like bow season where you have to get close to get a shot, and there is a big safety issue with it too.

Good luck!
