Your J.C. Higgins is really a rebranded Marlin Model 80. The magazine for either rifle will work. Do a Google Search for "Marlin 704046" and you should see a number of on line stores that sell the magazine for around $15.
You could also check http://www.e-gunparts.com/ as they carry a lot of older rifle parts.
