Past/Present clients As far as teaching what I know to others. I take this to be what you mean here... I have helped my son, and son in law, as well as a number of others in this area, to get started in trapping and predator calling... I have had personal instruction from professional government ADC specialists, and I have 30 years experience running my own traplines, and over a half century of experience in the outdoors...... I have a friend who is a troop leader with the Boy Scouts. In the past I have done several demonstrations on trapping and predator calling for the boys, and on a number of occasions have helped the troop to set up and run a trapline during the winter, with proceeds going to the troop.
Question i know this is kinda secret information but do you of a market for live coyotes?i was thinking about trapping this summer.thanks for your help

To tell you the truth, I don't really know if that is secret information or not... I do know that at one time a number of dog hunters in the eastern and southeastern states would buy live trapped coyotes from Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and other western states, take them back east, and use them to train their coyote dogs... And I do know that there are people out in the western states who trapped coyotes, fed and watered them and kept them alive and healthy, to sell to those fellows... But I have never done this myself, and I only personally knew of one old timer who did, but he passed away several years ago.......... If you plan to do something like this, I would STRONGLY suggest you first check to make sure doing so is legal... I honestly don't know if it is legal or not, and the legality of it may well vary from one state to another. Like I said, I've never done it, so I have never bothered to check the legality of any of it.... But I do know that you would have to have a place to keep them out of the sun and heat and out of the rain. They would have to be kept cool in the summer, fed and watered regularly, and kept HEALTHY...because no one would buy them if they are not in the very best of condition... Also you would probably need to use some of the traps with synthetic jaw inserts, or do as the old timer I told you about did, and wrap the jaws of his traps with tape, so as to cause no damage to the coyote's foot... Also you would need to have quite a number of them before it would pay to haul them out there, or for someone to come to you to buy them. They most likely won't make a trip for just 5 or 6 coyotes... And then too, in some places it is not legal to trap coyotes in the summer....... To be honest with you Don, to me it just seems like it would be alot more of a hassle than it would be worth, even if it is legal.
I would suggest that you remember the spots where you know coyotes can be located, then come back with traps and predator calls this winter when their furs are prime during fur season, and when those prime pelts can make a fur buyer start digging out his wallet.
I would assume there is probably a market for live coyotes...somewhere. But I would have no idea of where... I'm sorry Don, I am just not able to help you with this one.
