Question Hello, I have recently been told by the toyota dealer that my Highlander Hybrid has a misfire code on the spark plugs. It is going to cost me about $300. I like to do these types of things myself. When i went to NAPA to get the plugs, the clerk told me that they wear special gloves because you can get electrocuted, and to make sure I knew what I was doing. Is this true? I've rebuilt engines before, but the whole Hybrid portion kind of makes me nervous. Could I fry the computer or anything damaging? Is this possible to do, if so do you have any direction? Thanks for the help.
Answer The spark plugs are about the last place I'd expect to find any difference on a hybrid, and I have not heard of this issue, but if you like to do your own work, the Factory Service Manual is the place to look for both information and explanation. You might also be able to find a Highlander forum on-line.
