Question
I was just reading a thread on your site from 2004 in regards to Anxiety. My dad has this butterfly effect feeling and after reading that post, I now know that its caused by anxiety.

My father was recently admitted into hospital due to hypertension and now is on medication to control his BP levels. Every night at about PM he starts to have these butterfly effects. I'm not sure why the butterfly effects always occurs at this time for the past 2 weeks until today. Does the butterfly effect usually occur at a certain time?  My other question is could high dosages of BP medication cause anxiety as well?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Masyi,
I’m not clear on exactly what this“butterfly effect” is that you are speaking of. If it’s just a weird feeling in his head that occurs at night time, it could be consistent with anxiety. His BP meds may also make him feel this way if the feeling follows taking the drug. Has he discussed this with his doctor yet? If not I would.
