I AM 47 YEAR OLD MALE (DIABETIC TYPE 2) IN NOV 2008 MY BLOOD
PRESSURE ROSE TO 180/100 AND I WAS FEELING UNEASY MY SUGAR
WAS READING AT 24.5 I WAS IMMEDIATELY TREATED AT AN
EMERGENCY CENTER WHERE MY PRESSURE WAS BROUGHT DOWN TO 170
THEN THEY PRESCRIBED ME MICARDIS 80 MG WITHIN TWO MONTHS MY
BLOOD PRESSURE WAS CONTROLLED AND WAS 140/90 AND AFTER 8
MONTHS MY PRESSURE IS READING BETWEEN 120/90 TO 130/90. MY
QUESTION IS SIR, CAN I REDUCE MY DOSAGE OF MICARDIS 80MG TO
MICARDIS 40 MG AND PLUS MY SUGAR READING IS NOW 8.2

Answer Hi Chris,
Your blood pressure is still too high. The numbers should ideally be no more than 120/70. I would certainly not lower the dose of micardis. It sounds like you will need another medicine to help the lower number go down some more. This is even more important if there is a possibility of diabetes.
