Hypertension - Blood pressure

Expert: Domenic Sica - 9/28/2009

Question
Hello,

I am 28 years old, and I am not feeling well. Its difficult to define my condition, but I dont have any headache, vomiting nor visual disturbance but physically i am feeling weak and a bit nervousness. I have checked my blood pressure and is about 145/90 respecitively, I am worried whether I have develop high blood pressure or its just a temporary state.

Answer
If you have not had your doctor check you out yet you might consider this as a first step. Your blood pressure needs to be measured several times and the majority of your values come back elevated before you are labeled hypertensive. That being said if something else is going on as to your symptoms your blood pressure can be transiently elevated in which case it will often return to a normal range when the illness remits.

Regards,

Domenic Sica, M.D.
