Question Dear Dr. Sica,
I have resistent hypertension and have been prescribed various medications which haven't worked well at all. The most recent was Clonidine, which worked better (at least at first) but was very hard to manage and the rebound hypertension was scary. Now I'm trying to get off and back to Lotrel 10/40 plus a diuretic, which caused severe ankle swelling in the past from the calcium channel blocker. At any rate, I've gone from my PC doctor to a nephrologist he recommended (my kidney tests are normal) and neither seems to be knowledgeable to help me. Is there a hypertension specialist in the San Diego, CA area that you can recommend? My doctors tell me my case is "complicated." Apparently, my insurance doesn't cover one.
Thanks
Answer Both of these individuals are personal acquaintances and excellent with complicated hypertension.
If you schedule with one of them give either my regards.
