Hypnosis - Hypnotic Practice Question

Expert: Alane Richards - 9/19/2009

Question
Hello -
I am embarking on my own solo hypnotic practice in Tacoma, WA. around the first of 2010. I am looking for decorating information in my session room, which functions also as my intake area and has a small retail area. Specifically color pallet, audio and visual stimuli. Also, the correct chair for the client to best become suggestible in.

Thank you so much for your feedback Alane - Angela

Answer
Hi Angela,

Congratulations on your venture and the start of your very own practice. Decorations in my opinion should be simple. Not too cluttered with pictures. A couple of simple pictures of perhaps flowers would be nice. Also be sure to post all certificates, awards, diplomas in the clients view when he or she walks in. The recliner should be simple yet comfortable, no need to go overboard spending thousands of dollars on decorating. The client is not in the office for decorations but for therapy. The "magic" for lack of a better word begins with the counselor/client rapport. The office should be free loud or distracting colors, sounds, or smells. Calming colors include lavender, and light blues.

Angela thanks very much for sending me this question for my thoughts. Please feel free to ask questions anytime.

Regards,
Alane
