About Mike De Bruyn
Expertise
I can answer questions on Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, NLP, and general personal change work. (I have some experience in EFT and EMDR, but not as much as hypnosis.) I will not debate the subject, attempt to justify it, or argue which modality is better than another. Please ask serious and specific questions so that I can give a specific answer. The more information you provide the better answer I can give. NOTE: In light of recent trolls, I will reject any question which is argumentative. I intened to provide information only to people seeking help. Those who need to argue can go elsewhere.

Experience
I trained in stage hypnosis and have worked in the field since 1968. I use traditional hypnosis, Ericksonian hypnosis and NLP in my work with private clients. I teach classes in Hypnosis and NLP and moderate the highly popular Hypnosis-Hypnotherapy group on Yahoo.

Hypnosis - Hypnotism

Question
I would like to know the possibilities of Hypnosis. I have a lot of questions in my head from having left a philosophy class about logic and justifications of reality. Do all human minds contain all the answers in the world in reguard to their own operatings? In philosophy there have been some rules that don't always hold up. Could you hypnotise someone and ask them how the mind works and so on and so forth and get all the answers you ask for? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi James,

Yikes!  I have no idea how to answer a question like that.  The possibilities are limitless, so far as I know.

I understand.  Well, questions are the stuff of life and you'll always have those.  As to reality, one does not "justify" it.  Reality simply IS.

Clearly we don't have much of a CLUE in that regard.  We've been speculating about it since we have had time to speculate.

> In philosophy there have been some rules
> that don't always hold up.

In life there are always "rules" that don't hold up.

> Could you hypnotise someone and ask them

Well, you might get answers, but how would you test them to know if they were true?

Look, hypnosis is a technique for bringing about a state of consciousness so that you can produce changes in your life.  It is not about the "secrets of the universe" or the like.  It's more like a bicycle -- it helps you to get from one place to another.  If you have someplace to go, choose a car, a bicycle or hypnosis, depending on which vehicle you think will suit the journey best.

I hope that sheds some light for you.

Cheers,
Mike
