Question Hi, I have a fairly (unhealthy) limited diet, which is restricted to plain, dry, bland foods. The thought of food in sauce or foods mixed together makes me feel ill. I have tried in the past to eat different foods, but find myself gagging and often being sick. I need to find a cure for my own well being - do you think hypnosis would help? Thanking you in advance.
Answer Hi Jo -
I need to start out by telling you that it would be enitrely inappropriate for me to tell you what would work for you personally ... since I don't know you and simply don't have enough information to make a reasonable assessment. That being said, I can answer you in general terms that I hope will be useful.
In my personal opinion, this is the kind of thing that hypnosis is BEST at. If the medical doctors have checked you out and ruled out any medical problems, I can't personally imagine any other way to get to the bottom of an issue like this.
The next question is how to find a good hypnotist .... and if you can't get referred to one by someone who has personal experience you're going to need to shop a little bit. Many hypnotherapists offer a free initial consultation before they work with you ... and this would be good thing. In some cases they'll give you 15 mins on the phone and in others they will give you some real office time. Look for someone who is expereinced... who has had some real training (lots of "pretenders" out there who took a weekend course)... and most importantly, someone with whom you feel confortable.
Because there's no way to say for sure what's behind this issue for you, please understand that it might take only one session, but that it's quite possible that it could require several. While you don't want to be ripped off by too many sessions for too little results, this is an important issue and you want to find a therapist that's willing to be as thorough as necessary to move you beyond it.
Depending on where you are located, state or local laws may require that your hypnotherpist get a referral from your doctor. You maight want to ask about this during your free initial consultation
