Question
QUESTION: I went to see a hypnotist a few times to improve my self-esteem, and he had told me before we'd setup a program that it was in his experience that the more intelligent a person is, the more suggestible they are. I wasn't sure if he was rubbing my ego in the event that hypnosis worked well on me, or if he needed me to feel unashamed to be gullible in order for it to work well. Is there any real connection between people of greater intelligence and suggestibility?

ANSWER: That statement is basically true. The better you comprehend and understand the science the more success you will have.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I'm confused. What do you mean by understanding the science? Lets say you have two people that know nothing about hypnosis. One has an IQ of 140, and the other has an IQ of 100. Would the person with the 140 IQ be much more suggestable if hypnotized?

Answer
If both understood the benefits of hypnosis, there would be no difference. What I really meant is a highly intelligent person, if hypnosis is explained properly, can't help but understand the logistics and allow themselves to be suggestible. Your hypnotist explained it was in his experience that he came to that conclusion. I have no reason to question that statement.
