Question Dear friend,
I'm a 37 year old caucasian male with BMI = 22,5. I have some tach episodes and, sometimes, tendence for above normal readings of BP, till 160/100.
Most of the times, my BP is arround 130-135/80-85 and HR under 90, mostly arroung 70's. In a recent tach episode (nearly 150 bpm) I went to ER and then, after, a Holter, stress test and very detailed blood and urine tests that were normal. In Holter and stress test only a few PVC happened and Dr. said that they were harmless. Also in stress test, my heart recovery was slow (about 12 bpm reduction in first minute after max. strength, but yet with the threadmill not complety stopped) but without any signs of ischemia. So, I think I can consider my heart normal.
But, my main problem is that, since about 2 years ago, when tach episodes started, I'm very concerned about my heart health, I think in a very excessive way - Maybe what is called "heart neurosis".
Dr.(s) don't seem to be concerned about my cardio health and say that it is mainly my mind.
What can I do to try to get free from this bad emotional and mind feelings without meds?
Thanks
Answer Hi There,
What you seem to be suffering from is as you guessed a case of cardio neurosis,i have it and have to deal with it daily, you did the right thing by firstly going to your GP and getting your heart checked out as that would be my first word of advice for you,but i don't think you have alot to worry about,a friend of mine has a condition called SVT(Super Ventricular Tachycardia) and his bouts of Tachycardia are often in excess of 180bpm,things like that are fairly easy to diagnose to a skilled cardiologist.
My first real word of advice for you is to go here... http://pub21.ezboard.com/bhealthanxietyandhypochondria
its a good board and you will find support which is a good thing to have(it even has a section dedicated to cardio worry!)as far as feeling better without meds goes,i would reccommend gentle excersise and relaxing baths, also get a good vitamin supplement(it helps to reduce stress)also avoid spicy foods.Hopefully i'll see you on the board...i post as Chipko...hope you feel better soon!
