Question
Hi there
I have a 2000 Hyundai Accent (stick Shift) and i have a check engine light on.. When i am in First gear... There is no power than when i shift to second there is a little bit of jumping and bumping and jerking. and even in the top gears ther is still some bogging out... I seams worst in cold damp weather... Can you tell me which o2 sensor it is the from or the back???? How hard is it to change the o2 sensor for a normal person to change it????

Answer
It's not likely that your problem is either of the oxygen sensors.  Although it's possible, a failed oxygen sensor rarely causes an engine performance issue.

Replacing an oxygen sensor is fairly simple on this car.  Simply unplug it and unscrew it from the exhaust.  For the manifold oxygen sensor, you may need a special oxygen sensor socket to avoid having to remove the manifold heat shield.

If your check engine lamp is coming on, you should start by reading the stored diagnostic trouble codes.  AutoZone and AAMCO have advertised they'll do this for free.  The trouble code will tell you what sort of problem the ECM is seeing.
