Question QUESTION: Dear Joerg, You suggest uninstalling Adobe 9 (latest version) and then download an older Adobe Flash but I don't know where to get this download. You also indicate that this older adobe flash may not protect my pc properly. Why is it so difficult to get into the normal gay chat at ICQ and still be protected? Is this problem a little bit insane Joerg? Does it not sound crazy that ICQ does not provide a way for people to safely use its chat rooms? I AM SO PISSED OFF AT ICQ. What a shit organization that will not rectify this problem or provide immediate Client Customer Service help and provide a telephone number to get someone at ICQ Support to walk you through this difficulty to end up with a working solution to the problem. You must be misunderstanding or confusing something.
1) I have had a look in my archives, I do not find any previous email suggestion. Furthermore I never suggested to anybody to uninstall Flash and reinstall an older version of Flash.
The Chat client at http://www.icq.com/chat works perfectly for me, the problem lies somewhere else I think (my reply to this issue will follow later)
2) I cannot comment on the gay chat since I am not gay myself and never ever entered any gay chat.
3) ICQ has no more any customer support since ages, and I do not like this fact myself (this is why I help people like you in my free time. I do not work for ICQ myself and do not receive payment for helping users from anybody).
QUESTION: Dear Joerg, Thank you so much for your immediate reply. I did not know that you were not an ICQ employee expert. I APOLOGIZE for yelling at you, since you are doing this free and doing a hell of job. Thank you for all your time. I just wish I understood how to fix this problem as I am, as you have undoubtedly surmised as much, I am not computer literate and the instructions given, even though you are very clear, still do not help me to do the proper corrections. Apology accepted, point taken. Another try: if http://www.icq.com/chat doesn't work, don't bother with it.
Download X-Chat instead, and select the ICQ IRC server instead and enter the gay channel from there.
the Chat section is not what ICQ is about. ICQ is about the instant messaging client you can download from http://www.icq.com/download/icq6
About phone support: No free software has phone support. However most have free email support like Yahoo, Skype, etc.
If something is for free you can hadly staff a call center with people to receive calls and answer questions.
