Question i am from nepal. my mother stays in London. she has got a mobile number (she hasnt got a landline number and its not possible for her to get a landline number). i use skype for internet call. but the problem is when i make a purchase of $10 credit, i can hardly use it to call 40 minutes. it is expensive for me. is there any cheap provider to call UK mobiles at low rates???
Answer This is a big problem. The regulator OFCOM has forced UK mobile phone providers to drop their rates on Sept 1st.
I am not aware of anyone offering this service cheaper than skype right now. However, I expect the prices to drop in Sept.
Why not ask your mum to go somewhere public - such as a hotel, restaurant or public meeting place such as a train station? She can tell you the number of that land line phone and you can call her back at that number for a much cheaper rate.
