Question
"why should we switch off our mobile phones while traveling in choppers"?

Answer
Hi Vijay,
It is not just in Choppers but any transport that uses Radio Navigation calls for switching of any other type of Radio emissions. The reason being: Radio Navigation is done through continuous Communication between the raffic Controller and the Aircraft whose frequency allocation is almost inhibited to be used by other users. But as a precaution of interference from other radio sources like cell phones it has been made mandatory for switching off the cell phones, thereby preventing any intermodulation interferences and/or harmonic infterference. This is for Safety reasons only!!!
Cheers/GTRao
