Question Hello,
My fiancee and I are looking to relocate to Idaho but have never been there and are trying start to gather information. We love mountains, nature, and recreation. I am a science teacher and she is a school counselor. Do you know if there is teacher/counselor need? Is boise/idaho an outdoorsy state? are people generally friendly?
we are planning on visiting but not sure when to get out there. Any information would be greatly appreciated!! thank you for your time.

Answer Thanks for your question!
Here where I live are mountains 12,000 feet high. To the west are the Sawtooth mountains around Stanley, but this is so cold and snowy that it's more of a summer resort area. There is great boating, camping, wonderful scenery and freindly people (usually!)...In the southern part of the state there is more of a desert-type terrain with lots of sagebrush, yet the great scenery is not too far away from wherever you are. The bigger cities such as Boise are in the valleys. As for a time to visit, I can't think of a time NOT to visit. We have been getting snow lately, but the roads are just wet... not slick. The campgrounds and recreational areas get busy in July and August. Here on the Salmon River where I am, we are just finishing up a great Steelhead season... these fish are a yard long and most won't fit into the average cooler.
We are also next door to Yellowstone National Park, so if you plan to travel here, maybe you could include that stop in your plans.
I don't have any information about employment, but perhaps you could check out classified ads for the newspapers online. Sorry I can't be of more help.....
