Question Hi Sharon,
My son will be doing his residency at University of Illionis Chicago Hospital. My husband & son will be coming for a long weekend to try to find an apt.Any sugestions on where to start? He mentioned an area called Lincoln park? Also info on any hotels that aren`t to exspensive near the hospital.
Thank you Wendy Jacobsen
Answer Wendy,
Lincoln Park is one of the most expensive Near North Side neighborhoods in Chicago to live in. Much of the area around the U of I hospital is also very nice, but much more affordable. It's called variously Tri-Taylor or Taylor Street or the Near West Side. That would be the first place I'd look for a nice, but reasonably-priced (for Chicago these days) apartment. The only hotel I know of near the hospital is the Hyatt at University Village (625 S. Ashland, 312/243-7200), where it's much cheaper weekdays than weekends. You might also try one of the local B&B services for a better price: 312/951-0085 or 312/857-0800. For hotel discounts, call one of these discounted rooms services: 773/468-7666 or 800/964-6835.
Best wishes,
