Immigration Issues - B1-B2 Visa

Expert: Mark Ashley - 8/17/2008

Question
Hi,

I am holding a B1-B2 visa with 10yrs validity and multiple entry rentry permit. Can the B1-B2 visa be converted to a work permit visa, which ever is applicable. I am a computing professional with 3yrs experience looking to work in the USA.

Regards
Nikhil

Answer
Nikhil,
If you find a suitable employer to sponsor your work visa then you can change to that status.  The type of work visa and availability would depend upon your training and background. From your brief description of your abilities, you are probably well suited for an H1B.  Unfortunately, the visa cap has been reached for 2008 and there will be no more available until 2009.
Good Luck
Mark Ashley
