Immigration Issues - H1C to H4

Expert: Ajay K. Arora - 5/28/2009

Question
Hello,
I am currently working under H1C visa and planning to change to H4. I heard it takes about 6 months to get approval. Will I be able to work until the day I get approval? Thanks

Answer
Hi,

You can continue working for the H1C employer. However, when the H4 application is approved by the USCIS granting you change of status to H4, then you must discontinue working for the H1C employer.

Regards,
