Immigration Issues/L1A work location

Question
Can one on L1A work from client premises since the team that he supervises is located at the client site.

Answer
The L1A category does not have restrictions regarding location of employment. If your duties and responsibilities at the U.S. company will be consistent with the L1A petition that was filed by your company with the USCIS, it should be OK to visit and even work at client site. However, if in reality the L1A beneficiary is a project manager working at a client site, but the L1A petition filed by the company with the USCIS has inflated the job level unrealistically, there may be problems. Managers and executives plan, organize, direct, and control an organization's major functions and work through other employees to achieve the organization's goals. The majority of duties should be related to operational or policy management. Basic information about L1 category is here: www.h1b1.com/L1visa.htm
