Question
I have been accepted for sponsorship for my husband. I have alot of outstanding debts if I file bankruptcy will it affect my husband immigration approval?

Answer
Dear Andrea,

Sponsor your partner first and then file the bankruptcy after the sponsorship application is finished because it does effect your partner's application. But if someone has filed bankruptcy then he or she must be discharged, which takes a minimum of 9 months for a first time bankruptcy.
