Question
Under 55/15 exception I would like to apply for my Mom's naturalization. July 7th, 2012 would be her 15th year, can I go ahead and apply for her now? Thank you for your help.

Answer
Dear Kaniz,

I believe the 15/55 rule is determined by the time the applicant is interviewed.  If you file right now, the interview should be after July 7, 2012, so I think YES you can go ahead and start the application now for your mother.
