Immigration Issues/Affidavit of Support

Question
I have a friend who is a US citizen. He is sponsoring his wife into the US. In 2003, 2004 and 2005, his income was very low, about $3,000 to $4,000 a year since he worked part-time. However, this year, he earns about $400 to $500 a week. He asked his parents to act as a co-sponsor. However, he wonders whether the Affidavit of Support will take into account his son who has just been born. If yes, he wishes to know how many people will be supposed to be covered by the Affidavit of Support. In the same house, there are his parents, three sisters and him. In his country, there are his wife and his son. Do you think that his wife will have trouble obtaining a visa?

Thank you very much.

Answer
For his affidavit of support it is the number of people on his tax return plus the 2 he is bringing over. For his parents it is the 2 of them plus anyone else on their taxes plus the 2 abroad. He will need a co-sponsor but the visa will not be a problem if he gets one.
