Question
A friend is awaiting date for Swearing-in ceremony. He heard they ask at the ceremony if you wish to change your name. If so, will he receive proof of naturalization in original name and another when the names changes? And how long does this take, as he would like to apply for his passport soon after becoming a citizen?

Answer
There is a question on the application about wanting name change and it should have been done then or brought up at the interview. I am niot aware that name changes can be done at the swearing in stage. If they can not, he will have to do a formal name change through the civil court.

Robert
