Question
I am a US citizen who wishes to bring my sick father from Nigeria.  I am aware that I could petition for a green card but that would take some time (6 months or so).  Is there a faster way through a medical emergency "program?"  Incidentally, he was a green card holder before who suffered a stroke while visiting Nigeria several years ago. He has since lost his green card.  What are the obstacles that I face?

Thanks,

Karen

Answer
You may request to have your father paroled in for Humanitarian reasons.
Go to your local CIS office and get form I-131 Application for Travel Document.  You will also need to fill out an Affidavit of Support (form I-134).   you will be responsible for his medical expenses.
