Question
My second H1B visa expires in october 2006. My present company has filed for my green card and I got the labor approval. I just got an offer from another company. Is it okay to transfer my visa now given that it expires in 6 months and to get an extension you should be at least 1 year into the green card process?

Answer
It will not be good for you to be working for another companmy than the one that sponsored you for your green card. The portability law says you have to stay at your sponsoring company until your I-485 is pending more than 180 days.

Robert
