Question
Respected Sir,

I wish to know that - how can an international student (particularly an Indian) obtain American Citizenship - I mean what are the things needed for that - on what grounds?

What's a Green Card - is it a document that indicates American Citizenship ?

Answer
Hi Nishant,

You need either a family member who is a U.S. citizen (parent or spouse or brother/sister or child) to sponsor you, or else you can be sponsored by a U.S. employer.

Once your sponsorship application has been approved, you will initially receive a green card, and 3 to 5 years later (depending on type of sponsorship) you can apply for U.S. citizenship.
