Immigration Issues/Work Permit

Question
Hi,

My wife and I have submitted all papers to start the immigration
process to ajust my legal status through our marriage. We
received the firts letter saying that our process started on July
21, 2006. Then I went to have the fingerprints done. My lawyer
told me the next step would be to receive the Work permit letter,
but haven't get it yet. In fact I've received the interview date for
NOvember 21 but I'm still waiting for the work permit stuff. Do
you think I will get it before the interview? Is there any possibility
that I'm not going to get a work permit letter? Need to get my
SS asap

Thanks!
Diego

Answer
If the I-765 receipt is more than 90 days old you can make an infopass appt and go in and they will try and expedite it. The good news is that if all goes well on 11/21, you will get a stamp in your passport and can then go immediately to social security to ask for a number.

Robert
