Question
i am an israeli citizen born in israel 1956.
my mother is a british citizen born in england carrys a british passport until today'live in israel sincs 1948.
my father was not a british citizen.
do i have the right to ask for a british passport/citizenship.

Hi, thanks for your question. Nationality law in the UK can be a very complex business, so I would advise you to take legal advice about your specific circumstances.

In brief, those born before January 1983 could only aquire British Citizenship through their father, so on the face of it you do not qualify. However, you would qualify for an ancestry visa (four years with permission to live and work in the UK) if any of your grandparents were British. After four years in the UK you could apply to Naturalise, and obtain British Citizenship.
