Question
I am a US legal permanent resident.  I plan to spend 14 months in Canada on a temporary work visa.  During that time, I plan to return to the US once a month for one day.  Do I need to either apply for “advance parole” or submit a “change of address” notification?

Answer
permanent residents can not get advance parole - this is only for people waiting for permanent residents. Since you are coming back once a month - you do not need to apply for a re-entry permit. If you are not abandoning your residence, you do not need to submit a change of address. Doing so, would make immigration wonder whether you want to be a resident anymore.
