Immigration Issues/naturalization number

Question
Dear Robert

I am applying for a scholarship that requires that I prove that my parents are both naturalized citizens.  They ask me for photocopies of their passports, their naturalization numbers, and the dates of their naturalization.  My parents do not know their naturalization numbers or the dates.  Is there a phone number where I can call and just get this information without having to wait for a certificate?

Vivian

Answer
This is going to be difficult if they do not have their certificates and have to apply for new ones using form N-565. The only other way is to go to the local Immigration Office and ask for the Verification Unit or the Freedom of Information Unit and see if they will give it to you.

Good luck,

Robert
