how many months/year can u stay out of country if u have a green card. i am from phillipines. but have a green card. and i live in phillipines. but i dont wont to loose my green card. can i go to us embassy in philiipines to extend.

You can stay outside the U.S. for up to one year. If you will be outside the U.S. for between 1 and 2 years, you need a reentry permit: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a
