Question hi,i had a risky ancounter with an african prostitute when my condom slipped off and i was exposed for 1-2 minutes or less until i noticed it,i didn't ejaculated.the next weeks i don't remember to have fever, rash etc.i took an elisa antibody test at 8 weeks and 4-5 days and a hiv ag(p24)/hiv ab,(this is duo 4th generation test right?)at 9 weeks and 4-5 days and were both negative.can i continue my life now and have sex gith my girlfriend or should i test again at 3 months?
Answer Hi
Thanks for the question. Well, this encounter was risky so you were very wise having a test. As to timings, most people have sero-converted (show signs of HIV infection) at 8 weeks, BUT the recommended final cut-off point is 12 weeks.
So...I would recommend a further test at 3 months/12 weeks to make sure.
